Slow Food Membership special- Sept ’09

Just found out that Slow Food USA is building its membership by a special offer.

Individual membership is usually $60/year, but during September ’09, a donation of any size will be counted as the membership fee.  It’s only good in Sept ’09, so if you’ve been considering joining, just click on the logo above to sign up. No more excuses.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a link

Over the last couple years, I’ve had unusually good access (for a US citizen) to really excellent, REAL  food. First in Pt Townsend, with all the seafood, the co-op, the farmers market… And in VA this summer raising a lot of our food, and with a friend who raises grass-fed beef, another who sells goats milk cheese…

But most people don’t have the same choices available to them. And Slow Food is working to change that, both on the supply (small farmers & artisan food producers) and demand (those of us who eat) fronts.

Currently reading  The End of Overeating by David Kessler, MD which really exposes the culprits of the obesity epidemic. (Clue- it’s not you.)

I read somewhere that there’s no English phrase for “bon appetit.” (Unless you count being ordered to “Enjoy!” by your perky little waitron.) Food for thought.
