Off to Africa!

Off to Africa!

So, I’ve spent a little over a month in Toronto, which I’m loving. Obviously, the company is part of it, since I’m here w/my… I don’t know what to call him. Sweetheart, beau, boyfriend? At any rate, we’re having a terrific time. And that would be one reason the blog posts have not been as frequent.

We’ve been exploring the city, meeting up w/friends, and getting ready for more travel.

This one is a doozy. We’re leaving Sunday for about 3 wks in Africa. First up is a wk in Durban, South Africa where he & his work partner are presenting at a conference. Then, we leave for Nairobi and take off on a 2-wk safari!!! Yes, that’s right.

We’ll be seeing all kinds of animals & it’s also migration season for the¬†wildebeests¬†& zebras. And we’ll be stopping by Olduvai gorge, where some of the oldest human remains were found. Typical of me, that & the flamingos are what I’m looking forward to the most.

To get ready, I’ve been watching Planet Earth DVD’s & getting lots of immunization. And yes, I have bugspray & malaria pills. And a camera. I think I’m ready… I hope I’m ready…

What a trip, it should be something else. I’m so glad you’re taking this adventure. In my plan to visit every continent, I will need as many trustworthy first-hand accounts as I can. Give me a call or send me a postcard when you get a chance. Lots of love.

Not to worry- there will be lots of pix. But Africa’s a huge continent; I’ll only be seeing a tiny piece. Internet coverage will be spotty, but I’ll keep in touch.

Sara, how wonderful this is happening! I’ll be waiting for the stories and pics. We know a pair of Brit expats in Greece who sometimes take groups to Botswana, and here’s their advice to everybody – love what you’re seeing, do what you can to keep it from disappearing, and if staying in an open camp, DO NOT walk around without escort by the staff. Meeting a black bear in the park here is one thing, meeting a lion or rhino outside your tent quite another!
