Texas

Texas is big. Really big. I’m going to be here for a while. Yesterday, I drove from Sulphur, LA to San Antonio. It’s wildflower season, and we all owe a debt to Ladybird Johnson, b/c these highways are gorgeous! The bluebells & all kinds of things are blooming.

So far, I’m not a fan of Houston (ugh) but after that, the hill country starts, and oh my. Another place I’d like to spend a few months getting to know.

Today I’m going to explore the Riverwalk (I know, it’s touristy. That’s ok.) And then drive about 1.5 hours to AUSTIN. Yes, I’m really excited about that. Today’s the farmers market, and the Guthrie family is playing live (I”m trying to decide whether to see them there or when they’re in Kent, WA, on May 1 when I can go w/some of my peeps. But I’m thinking Kent.)

Also found out Krisna Das is in Santa Fe. NOW. Doggone it. I will hear that man sing kirtan someday, but so far it’s not working out.

My other big entertainment is listening to local radio stations. Heard some really fabulous R&B near Biloxi, MS. In TX, I’m listening to KUT. And you can listen online.

Later, ‘tater!

Blessed Equinox to all of you of the pagan persuasion… The night sky has been fantastic out on the farm, with hardly any moon to interfere.

Well, I’m off again. Cain is helping to pack up the Prius this AM, and then I’m off! First stop is Wilmington, NC, to visit CP. Plans? BEACH.

I’m going to miss a lot of the folks here.Yesterday, it seemed like everyone was showing up @ the farm to say goodbye. I got to pass out some of my new “calling cards.” They just have my name, email & website. (Oh, and a heart. But you knew that.)  This way I can stop scribbling them on scraps of paper for people I meet. So much nicer.

I got in two really good yoga classes this wk. Who knew that the Shenandoah had really super yoga teachers? Janice & Balika are both terrific! Last night was with Janice Williams & the yoga farmgrrls. Quite a workout! And fun catching up w/all of them & pictures of Miss Nellie the pig, too. My, she’s grown! I can remember when she was knee-high to a beer can.

Here are a few links to keep you smiling:

Benefit Cosmetics spokesmodel

Yes, I know… it’s not Friday. Somehow, you all managed to survive the weekend without links. (Except those of you who expired from silliness deprivation. Sorry.)

Well, sorting piles of things, doing “space clearing” on a lot of different levels, helping my mom buy a new car (Hyundai Elantra Touring ), making contact w/friends before I leave again on Friday. And a lot of staring @ the rain.

I was really having fun striding around the farm, exploring little corners. And then the deluge. Now, I actually like rain. But striding around in clay mud after about 4 days of rain is no one’s idea of a good time. It’s supposed to stop tomorrow. There are lots of flowers coming up & the hay field is turning green before my eyes.

Here are a few links for you, to brighten up your week!

Sorry I just dropped off the face of the earth for a bit. ShenTel is slow in hooking up the internet, so I’m internet-less until Mon or Wed…

Right now, I’m in a Borders in Winchester, checking emails. The weather is gorgeous & bright- about 60 & almost all the snow is melted. The only way I can tell what an awful winter it was is the haunted look in people’s eyes & all the downed branches.

Took a long walk in the field yesterday & played w/the cats. More later… Hasta luego (I mean, bye, y’all.)
