TGIF #11

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Sorry, mijos, I’m posting this late.

After a quiet day @ the casita, I made up for it by going to:

  1. Yoga @ Belles Artes (a former convent)
  2. Lunch w/new chica/amiga Polly, from Orcas (I know, can you believe it?)
  3. Hanging out @ Centro, reading Atencion & planning next week
  4. Cine- Food, Inc w/Yoga friends from Ottawa Ty-phoo & Paul from Ottawa

Home again, to eat avocados, queso ranchero & several Cuba libres (doing my share for democracy)

  1. Sorry, this is the state of my spiritual health @the moment.
  2. For Vegan-boy
  3. Another for Vegan-boy- my favorite L33+ H4XR
  4. Coffee madness
  5. OK this is too weird

Tomorrow, the plan is to go to Guanajuato.  I have my alarm set…

Well-dressed in the PNW

Well-dressed in the PNW

Ay caramba,  it’s cold up there! I wish I could just charter a plane & fly you all down to thaw out for a while.

Since I can’t, I’ve gathered up some goodies to help make life bearable. That’s right, I have an Amazon store. It’s not quite ready for prime time, but if you purchase anything after using one of my links, I get a cut. So by taunting you, I’m actually making a profit. Yay! Now get busy & finish your Christmas shopping…

Here’s some fun stuff to take your mind off incipient frostbite:

Gosh, it’s been a while hasn’t it? I’ve been traveling for a couple wks straight, couch-surfing my way thru the Northwest, catching up w/family & old friends, and having a terrific time. And eating… O lordy. It’s a wonder I don’t weigh 300 lbs.

Son PV & his fiancee live in West Seattle, and I can tell you, that’s some of the best eating around. Buddha Ruksa, the Mission, Spud (best fish n chips anywhere, and I should know), Maharajah, Luna Park Cafe... And then over to the U District to eat @ my favorite: Caspian Grill (I’m claiming to have personally discovered this restaurant. If you go, order the fesenjan- chicken stewed in pomegranate/walnut sauce. You won’t be sorry.)

Now for some fun stuff, to get your weekend started:

Well, today I ran into a bunch of folks who’d been laid off locally when the big press (that produces Nat’l Geographic, among other things) downsized. They had all met up for coffee, and were having a terrific time. Having worked their heinies off for 20+ years, they were finally getting the chance to just relax & be friends, rather than co-workers. And they were having a great time. Something is wrong with this picture.

In some ways, I understand that I’m being a slacker and that “real” people have “real” jobs & can’t mess around doing yoga & living on a farm for a few months.  But… what if that’s not true? What if “lifestyle design” (aka slacking) is really where it’s at? Here’s a site that might throw a different light on the issue:  Anyway, I’m looking forward to my next adventures, and meeting up w/folks who are “location independent.”
